Spider veins are small, dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin. They may be red, blue, purplish, or greenish in color. Many people have spider veins on their face, most commonly on the cheeks, nose, and chin.
Although spider veins on your face are a cosmetic issue, treating them safely and effectively takes an expert. At Bellamah Vein Center, our vein experts use a state-of-the-art procedure called VeinGogh to remove facial spider veins.
VeinGogh uses a hair-thin probe to deliver a microburst of energy to the vein. The resulting heat causes the vein to collapse and disappear. The surrounding skin is not damaged, so there is usually only a minimal amount of redness after the procedure. Most cases require a series of treatments scheduled a few weeks apart.
Many people are bothered by prominent, or bulging, veins on the forehead, temple, or below the eye. These blue or green veins can be hereditary and often become more noticeable with age. Forehead and temple veins also tend to stand out more on very slender people.

In sclerotherapy, a tiny needle is used to make multiple injections of a solution (called a sclerosant) into the vein. This solution causes the vein walls to stick together and then seal shut. The vein can no longer hold blood and is eventually absorbed by the body. It will take several weeks for the treated veins to fade and disappear.
